Clouds!
Trees!
I must be back in a magical land where all four seasons actually exist!
And wh-wh-what's this? As soon as I get back to my apartment, it starts SNOWING?! Holy crap! In conclusion, [southern] California, with its sunny, warm winter temperatures, its either-summer-or-not-summer-but-still-gay seasons, can rot in the deepest levels of Hell.
Can you tell I'm really happy to be back? I don't know what to do now. Unpack? Wait and hope there's some decent snow accumulation and then go play? Catch up on internets? Masturbate furiously?
I don't know. I just don't know.
Edit: So I just went for a semi-brief walk in the snow. It's a little too wet and slushy for there to be good accumulation, but it's falling pretty heavily. It's like the kind of snow you see in TV shows and movies. So pretty!
Edit 2: Went for an extended walk. In retrospect, it was probably not the wisest decision I've ever made. I'm a little sick, and walking back my socks got all wet from the melty slush. If I wake up dead from pneumonia tomorrow, tell my wife I love her.
Mary Ellen, you'll probably be pleased to hear that I put to use for the first time those gloves you bought me last year.

Today is Christmas! Merry Christmas, everyone. I love most of you. The rest, I'm indifferent toward.
My stint in California is roughly half over now. Can't wait to go back. It's all like, sunny and warm here, blech. It's actually supposedly sunny back in Portland as well, but at least it's not sixty-some damn degrees.
I think I'm coming down with a cold. Stupid people being all sick around me. Crossing my fingers that I'm not too sick to hang with Elzie in case she's free on Monday!
Here is where I post what I've received so far: A $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble A $25 gift card to Amazon.com A ridiculously fancy car radio that plays damn near every format ever. I didn't even know these things had SD card slots. The future truly is now A ton of cash, unfortunately likely to go toward car maintenance/repairs, depending on whether the guys at Midas are trying to jew me or not A basket full of candies and...extra virgin olive oil? A webcam. While I like the idea of a webcam in theory, I have little practical use for one. But I suspect it's just a chance for my mom to rope me into talking to her more. Who wants to watch me fap on cam? Who wants to PAY to watch me fap on cam?
Quite possibly my first Christmas ever where I didn't receive a single article of clothing. But there yet remains the traditional post-Christmas Christmas shopping. I think I'll ask my brother for a gift card to Gamestop and...actually, that'll be it, I guess? I have to buy everyone else their gifts, though...
[This space intentionally left blank]
This is my last week before I force myself to start seeking employment. Damn, it was a good year of doing absolutely nothing. How time flies.

What a shock, all that nonsense about a snow storm coming and freezing rain on the roads amounted to nothing more than a little bit of rain that Saturday.
Had a pretty busy weekend. Friday wasn't too eventful; Krista and I hung out at her place all night. On Saturday, I got dragged clothes shopping/selling, but it was okay because she bought me pizza and a soda. (Yeah, that's right, it's a pizza party!) Then we headed off to her friend James's for the yearly Christmas party.
This would be my second year attending. I don't think I wrote about it last year for some reason, though. Anyway, I skipped out on the White Elephant gift exchange last time, so to make up for it, I went all out and brought a Street Fighter IV snuggie cozy for one lucky party attendee. Sadly, it was the second-to-last gift to be chosen, so there wasn't a whole lot of fighting over it. It also wasn't the only cozy there, which I was expecting. er, I was expecting there to be more than one, that is to say. I ended up with a bunch of candy, a smallish bottle of liquor, and a $10 gift card to Fred Meyer. One of the best gifts there, as far as I'm concerned. Then we all stayed up way too late playing a custom game of Apples to Apples.
I had to party in moderation, never in excess because I had big plans today. Well, not so much big, but plans nonetheless. At about two I went into downtown to meet up with this chick with whom I had been messaging back and forth on OKCupid. We wanted to do something casual, so we agreed to meet at this sort of art gallery/internet cafe/etc. place to play some chess and chat. Something about the idea of a chess date really amuses me, and I mean that in a good way. After two games, we sat around talking about various things for a couple of hours. She was pretty cool and kicked my ass in our first chess match, so provided she's interested, I'll see her again.
And now I've just been packing in preparation for my flight back to California tomorrow. I'll be there from the 21st to the 29th. bbbaaarrrrffff. At least this year there isn't a catastrophic snow storm making a mess of my plans. Although there is supposed to be snow tomorrow, but only at high altitudes. But we all know what happened last time I listened to weather.com, so...
Hey Elzie! I haven't called you in forever, so I'm not sure if the number I have for you is current. Is it 951-640-xxxx?
